For the better part of a year, Andy Yang's ever exciting but poorly received 2nd Avenue spot has been slowly transforming into a second branch of his Michelin-starred Greenwich Village hit Rhong Tiam . First he started cooking Rhong Tiam's food in Kurve's kitchen for delivery orders, calling it Rhong Tiam East. Then came the Rhong Tiam Remixed nights , where RT's food was served alongside Kurve's in the dining room.

Former Philippine president Fidel V Ramos and prominent Qatari businessman Hussein Alfardan formally opened the first Doha outlet of Philippine food chain Chowking on Salwa road on Wednesday. A local institution is coming back to life at a new location. Sal Pinzone, who was the owner of Sal's Family Restaurant - a Main Street fixture for 41 years until it was ravaged by fire in 2007 - said he's bringing the venerable eatery back. "Sal's is back, and look for the opening date," said Pinzone, who will turn 82 next month.
